It is important to remember that the government is investing money in your business by providing free training for your learner. The Learning and Skills Council and the Adult Learning Inspectorate standards of Health and Safety and Equality of Opportunity are binding, for both ITS Ltd and for employers. Together we are responsible for your apprentice's welfare in his or her place of work. |
All premises where prospective government-funded funded learners work and/or train, must meet certain health and safety requirements. Before the training programme can start, our Health and Safety Representative will need to visit your premises to look at, and discuss, your health and safety arrangements. You or your named 'Responsible Person' will need to be available when our Health and Safety Representative visits. You are advised to allow about 45 minutes to show them around your premises, and answer any questions.
The key areas of this visit are:
If anything listed above is not in place at the visit, or does not meet the standards required, please do not worry because you will be given guidance about what you will need to do before the training can start.
As soon as a satisfactory health and safety arrangement is in place, you will be given a 'Work-Based Learning Guide', this contains useful information you will need. Your allocated Trainer/Assessor will review your health and safety arrangements every 12 months.
